VolunteerMarch.org, www.volunteermatch.org This is a great, easy to use website where you put in your location (city, county or zip code) and your area of interest and it will come back with a list of volunteer opportunities. I tested the site with a couple zip codes and a bunch of random interests---wildlife, hospice, environmental, children, mentoring, museum, gardening, pets, cancer--and came up with a lot of options. Its like doing a Google search. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

They work with the organizations to identify their most pressing needs; create projects to address them; and then deploy teams of volunteers to work on the project.
